Barre Master Plan Overview

The Town of Barre is working to create it’s first-ever Master Plan. This plan will establish goals and strategies to inform municipal policies and investments across for the next 10-20 years. A robust community engagement process is getting underway, beginning with the creation of this website (which will serve as a repository for Master Plan materials and updates). Led by the Master Plan Steering Committee with support from the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission (CMRPC), the master planning process is expected to run through June 2024 and will include deep dives into the following topics:

• Land Use

• Housing and Population

• Economic Development

• Natural and Cultural Resources

• Open Space and Recreation

• Services & Facilities

• Transportation/Circulation

• Implementation

Community input will serve as the foundation for the goals in strategies included in the Master Plan. We cannot establish a long-term vision and goals for Barre’s future without input from our friends, neighbors, and fellow residents.
